Signal Iduna Reinsurance Ltd. (SI Re), the Swiss based reinsurer located in the city of Zug, has announced the promotion of current head of ILS Markets & Retrocession Dr Robert Salzmann to become the firm’s Head of Underwriting as well as his current responsibilities.
Leading ILS Markets and Retrocession for the reinsurer, Salzmann has helped European-market focused reinsurer SI Re in developing and managing its risk appetite.
In his new Head of Underwriting role, Salzmann will report directly to the CEO of the company Bertrand R. Wollner.
He will also take on responsibility for Assumed Reinsurance (ARI) at SI Re, in addition to ILS Markets & Retrocession.
Wollner, CEO of SI Re, commented on the news, “We are pleased that Robert Salzmann, a longstanding and experienced employee of our company, has assumed the management of our Underwriting department.
“We are convinced that he will successfully further expand our Underwriting operations.”
Salzmann joined SI Re in 2014 as an actuary at the reinsurance company.
He was appointed to the role of Head of Pricing and ILS Analytics in 2017 and then in 2019, Salzmann took on the management of SI Re ILS Markets & Retrocession.
Before joining SIGNAL IDUNA Reinsurance, Salzmann worked at KPMG since 2012, in the role of Assistant Manager, Quantitative Finance Group for global investment banks and insurance companies.
