Securis the first ILS manager to license RMS Exposure Manager

Securis Investment Partners has become the first insurance-linked securities (ILS) focused investment manager to license the RMS Exposure Manager solution, the firms have announced.

The ILS and reinsurance-linked investment manager has licensed the RMS Exposure Manager, the first solution on the RMS(one) platform, in an effort to streamline and strengthen its portfolio management capabilities.

The solution is designed to improve the efficiency of analysing huge quantities of data used to determine the proximity of risk clusters to hazard areas post-event, by increasing the speed of calculating key metrics, such as exposed limit. The platform enables companies to produce analytics that assist with identifying risk hot spots and also where opportunities for growth might be.

“We are delighted to include Exposure Manager within Securis’ expanding suite of analytical capabilities. The current capability and indeed the development vision for this product is extremely complementary with Securis’ strategy to continuously develop cutting edge portfolio management capability,” said Herbie Lloyd, Head of Insurance, Securis.

The pair explain that the Exposure Manager solution is powered by the RMS(one) platform, which utilises the RMS Financial Model to process inherently complex financial structures and contractual terms.

Analytics are delivered in a visual format and are fully customisable, making it easier for companies to fine-tune areas of portfolios and ultimately make better and faster decisions.

Financial structures in the ILS and reinsurance sector can be more complex than in traditional insurance markets, and the pair feel that Securis being the first ILS and reinsurance-linked asset manager to license the solutions gives it an advantage in the space.

It’s likely that the solution will help Securis and its Lloyd’s of London syndicate 6129, which it launched in partnership with Novae to write U.S. excess & surplus lines insurance, as well as within its reinsurance business.

Farhana Alarakhiya, Vice President, Software Products at RMS, said; “What distinguishes Exposure Manager from other portfolio management solutions is that it’s built on a big data and analytics platform architected specifically so that risk-carriers can interrogate both exposures and modeled losses in one analytics environment.

“Exposure Manager can process large volumes of data while also producing analytics at any granularity. This means our clients can create risk insights across their entire risk management process to drive more informed decision-making.”
