Radix ILS hires insurance management & operations specialist Plianthos as COO

Radix Insurance Linked Strategies (Radix ILS), the Bermuda-based third-party capital manager and tech-first reinsurance capacity deployment company, has announced the hiring of Nicolas Plianthos as its Chief Operating Officer (COO), bringing years of insurance management and operational expertise to the firm.

Plianthos had worked at Marsh Management Services in Bermuda for fifteen years and two years prior to that for a company Marsh had acquired on the island.

Marsh Management Services is the division of the global broking group that provides insurance management services, from the standing-up or ongoing management of captives and reinsurance structures, including transformers and insurance-linked securities (ILS) vehicles, to a wide range of operational and administration services.

In announcing the hire of Plianthos on LinkedIn, Radix ILS explained, “We are thrilled to announce that Nicolas Plianthos has joined Radix ILS as Chief Operating Officer.

“Nicolas joins us following an impressive tenure at Marsh Management Services (Bermuda) Ltd., where he most recently served as Senior Vice President. A veteran of the Bermuda market, Nicolas brings unparalleled expertise in ILS and commercial insurance operations.

“As we continue to scale our reinsurance platform, Nicolas’s deep experience as a trusted advisor and his proven track record in leading complex re/insurance administration will be vital in driving our operational excellence.”

As the COO of Radix ILS, Plianthos will be responsible for scaling and optimising its ILS and reinsurance operating platform, with a focus on operational excellence and governance, to support continued expansion of the business.

As Radix ILS has expanded its business in its first year, since launching in January 2025, the company has established new vehicles and structures as it builds out infrastructure for efficiently transacting reinsurance and ILS arrangements.

The company set up Radix Alpha Ltd., a Bermuda-based collateralized insurer, in February of last year.

Two additional companies were registered later in 2025, Radix Re Ltd. and Radix Re Holdings Ltd., which we understand to be a reinsurance underwriting platform the company has been raising capital for, while there is also an ambition to provide fronting services as well.

As the operational complexity of the business grows, Radix ILS has now brought someone into the team with all of the skills necessary to help ensure good governance, operational efficiency and rigour going forwards, with the naming of Plianthos as COO.
