Lockton Re, the reinsurance business of the privately held independent global broking firm, has hired Simon Moore, the former Chief Underwriting Officer of CATCo, as a Senior Broker within its Non-Marine Retrocession & Property Specialty team in London.
Moore had joined collateralized retrocessional reinsurance investment fund manager CATCo back in 2015, after a stint at Aon Benfield.
He went on to become the Markel CATCo Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) in 2017 and held the role for a number of years.
Now, Moore will bring his insurance-linked securities (ILS) and collateralized markets experience to Lockton Re, joining the firm in October 2021.
Matt Foreman, Head of Non-Marine Retrocession & Property Specialty at Lockton Re in London, commented on the hire, “Simon will be a great addition to our expanding global presence in the Retrocession marketplace. His wealth of experience across both Broking and Underwriting will enhance our holistic offering to clients. Simon’s analytical approach, experience within ILS and strong relationships will be a huge asset as we seek to bring innovative structures and solutions to clients. We very much look forward to welcoming Simon to Lockton Re in the third quarter of 2021.”
Moore has almost 30 years of reinsurance market experience gained in roles held in both London and Bermuda.
He began his career working in the Lloyd’s market, before moving to Aon in 2002 as a Loss Modelling Analyst and Account Manager for North American Property Treaty.
After that, Moore spent some time at reinsurance broker Gallagher Re in London and Bermuda, before moving back to Aon to become a reinsurance broker at Aon Benfield in Bermuda and finally moving to work at CATCo Investment Management in Bermuda.
Keith Harrison, International CEO, Lockton Re, also said, “Our global Retrocessional capability continues to expand reflecting our growing client base and their needs. Simon is a fantastic addition to both the team and Lockton Re as a whole as he shares our collaborative ethos and enthusiasm for putting clients first. His ability to combine a global perspective with on the ground London and Bermuda relationships and knowledge will be invaluable.”
The hiring of Moore comes on the heels of Lockton Re’s appointment of former Aon industry loss warranty (ILW) practice head Thomas Parcell in Bermuda.
The broker has been building out its ILS and collateralized reinsurance markets capabilities over the last few years.
