Hudson Structured (HSCM) hires life ILS portfolio manager Pombeiro from Twelve Securis

Hudson Structured Capital Management (HSCM), the reinsurance, insurtech, insurance-linked securities (ILS) and transportation focused investment manager, has hired life ILS portfolio management specialist Antonio Pombeiro, who joins the firm from Twelve Securis .

Hudson Structured Capital Management, undertaking its reinsurance investment business through the HSCM Bermuda unit, has been particularly active in the life insurance investments space of late.

Just recently, the company raised $110 million to launch a new fund named HS Sawmill LP, that was formed to acquire a seasoned portfolio of life insurance-linked securities (ILS) in a rare life ILS secondary market transaction.

As we reported in a follow-up story, we learned that HSCM had acquired the seasoned portfolio of life insurance-linked securities (ILS) from ILS manager Twelve Securis, with the assets representing part of the legacy Securis life ILS portfolio.

Now, we’ve learned that former Twelve Securis life ILS portfolio management specialist Antonio Pombeiro is joining HSCM Bermuda this month, marking a further expansion of HSCM’s life insurance-linked investments business.

Michael Millette, Managing Partner of Hudson Structured Capital Management, responded to our request for comment to say, “As part of the continued growth of HSCM into the life insurance sector, Antonio Pombeiro, former portfolio manager of Twelve Securis life portfolios, is joining HSCM’s insurance investment team as Managing Director to manage the newly formed fund HS Sawmill LP and lead additional primary investment opportunities in the asset class.”

Pombeiro commented on his hire, “I am excited to join the HSCM team and continue to create value for our investors at the intersection of life insurance and structured credit.”

Pombeiro most recently worked at Twelve Securis, based in Bermuda, managing the life ILS portfolios that came over to that firm after its merging with Securis Investment Partners earlier this year.

Prior to that, he had spent seven years with Securis, first working on origination and structuring of life insurance-linked securities (ILS) investment opportunities, becoming portfolio manager for life in 2023 and moving to Bermuda for the firm in 2024.

Earlier in his career, Pombeiro had spent more than four years working at investment bank Nomura in the insurance solutions group, as well as spending time at EY and insurer Allianz.
