Hiscox Capital Partners hires Spanos as Senior ILS Actuary

Hiscox Capital Partners, the division of Hiscox Re that encompasses insurance-linked securities (ILS) investments and quota-share partnerships, has appointed Charalambos (Harry) Spanos as a Senior ILS Actuary.

Earlier this year, Hiscox Re, the reinsurance division of Hiscox Group launched Hiscox Capital Partners as a new business unit to consolidate all the capital partnership activity the organisation has managed for nearly two decades, including third-party capital and insurance-linked securities (ILS).

Based in London, Spanos, a seasoned and qualified actuary, has joined Hiscox Capital Partners, bringing with him a decade of experience in ILS and reinsurance.

He also boasts a proven track record in valuations, reserving, and capital modeling.

He joins the firm following a four-year tenure at Artex Risk Solutions, where he most recently served as Vice President, Advisory Services. He joined that firm in May 2022, as Assistant Vice President, Advisory and Actuarial Services.

Prior to that, Spanos spent two years serving as a Reserving and Valuations Analyst at Securis Investment Partners, the London-headquartered insurance-linked securities (ILS) investment manager, that together with Twelve Capital merged to become Twelve Securis in early 2025.

From 2016 until early 2020, Spanos served at Aspen Insurance Group as a Student Capital Modelling Actuary, where he gained significant insights into the reinsurance and ILS sectors.

Spanos began his career by working as a Natural Catastrophe Risk Consultant for a short stint at Willis, before later spending nearly a year at UK insurer Aviva as an Actuarial Student between 2015 to 2016.

As we recently reported, Hiscox Capital Partners grew its overall ILS assets under management (AUM) to $2.9 billion as of July 1st 2026.
