Huang & Associates Analytics (HAA), a firm targeting the insurance-linked securities (ILS) market’s growing demand for risk analytics solutions and advisory services, has launched a product named “RAPID”, Risk Aggregation Platform for ILS Decisions.
Targeting ILS and reinsurance-linked investors, the risk aggregation platform for ILS is designed to enable those investing in the asset class, whether directly or through managed funds, to better manage their allocations and make more informed investment decisions.
RAPID is the first product to be launched by Huang & Associates Analytics Ltd. (HAA) and the company has designed it specifically to provide investors in the ILS market with transparency, model independence and operational efficiency, by enabling them to appropriately allocate, aggregate and optimise their ILS investments.
Kevin Huang, founder and CEO of HAA, commented on the product launch; “Many ILS investors are challenged to get timely and insightful information about their portfolios. Even though they do receive various risk reports from their fund managers, the format, metrics used, and level of granularity are all different. ILS investors are then forced to spend considerable resources attempting to aggregate this information using crude assumptions. The results are very unreliable.
“It is even more difficult to optimize the allocation of investment capital to their various fund managers and assess relative performance of individual portfolios. Our platform will be a game changer and will go a long way towards alleviating these issues and concerns for ILS investors.”
The new product, RAPID, will provide ILS investors with access to “ground-breaking risk analytics tools.” Using the tools, investors will be able to actively monitor portfolio analytics on their investments in the growing market for investing in insurance and reinsurance linked instruments and funds.
Huang said that the platform will “make critical portfolio information more robust, transparent and readily available.”
RAPID has been developed by HAA using the latest simulation techniques, portfolio theory and web technology. Using RAPID will enable ILS market investors to actively manage their portfolios in the most cost-effective manner, the firm said.
Huang stated; “No other firm is providing such comprehensive products and services to this market.”
HAA hopes that RAPID will help to answer important questions for ILS investors, such as:
- How can we aggregate risk reports from various ILS fund managers to form a holistic view of the
risk inherent in our portfolio?
- How should we allocate investment capital to different fund managers in order to maximize risk adjusted returns?
- How can we assess the credibility of financial projections and strategic plans of individual fund managers?
- How can we maximize the liquidity of our investments?
- How do we know that a fund manager is utilizing the latest pricing techniques in risk selection?
