Guy Carpenter has made a senior appointment within its London and Europe focused reinsurance broking team, naming Sebastian Cook as Managing Director and Head of London Europe.
Cook was most recently at insurance and reinsurance broker Aon, where he was Head of EMEA London and Deputy CEO, Nordic and Baltic Region, responsible for production and servicing across large account clients in Continental Europe. He had worked at Aon since 2007.
Cook will report to Massimo Reina, CEO, Europe at Guy Carpenter and lead the London-based reinsurance teams, with a focus on European business (London Europe) and Guy Carpenter’s newly formed European Broking Solutions Team, which works with local European offices to provide customised reinsurance strategies for the continent.
He will also work to further develop Guy Carpenter’s catastrophe strategy across the European region, as well as its approach to European reinsurer management.
Cook is also expected to play an important role in directing Guy Carpenter’s international RFP initiative.

With Sebastian on board, our ability to deliver deep local market insight combined with our international services will be further strengthened, allowing us to better service our clients in the region.”
This move comes in the wake of news of a number of defections from Guy Carpenter’s London reinsurance team to growing rival Howden.
