Reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter has appointed Paul Moody from sister brokerage Marsh as its new UK CEO, with Dominic Samengo-Turner set to replace him as CEO, Marsh Specialty, UK & Ireland. Meanwhile Toby Wemyss has been hired from Willis Towers Watson as Global Head of Facultative Reinsurance, Guy Carpenter.
The changes come as sister companies Marsh and Guy Carpenter juggle their senior leadership a little.
Paul Moody had worked at Marsh for 22 years, most recently as its CEO, Marsh Specialty, UK & Ireland since 2018, in which he has led successful strategic growth initiatives in the UK financial lines and specialty divisions.
Moody now becomes UK CEO, Guy Carpenter, from September 1st 2021, subject to regulatory approval and will be based in London, reporting to Dean Klisura, President, Guy Carpenter.
He will take on responsibility for Guy Carpenter’s UK property and casualty reinsurance broking business.
Replacing Moody, Dominic Samengo-Turner is appointed CEO, Marsh Specialty, UK & Ireland, effective September 1st,
Samengo-Turner will also be based in London and will report to Chris Lay, CEO, Marsh, UK & Ireland, and Lucy Clarke, President of Marsh Specialty and Global Placement.
He is currently the Global Head of Facultative Reinsurance at Guy Carpenter and previously served as Head of Marsh Specialty, Asia, following Marsh’s acquisition of JLT.
Samengo-Turner has over 35 years’ experience in global and specialty markets, with 23 spent at Willis Towers Watson in several leadership roles before joining JLT in 2015.
Finally, Toby Wemyss takes on the role of Global Head of Facultative Reinsurance, Guy Carpenter and will report to Moody.
Wemyss is expected to join the broker in the fourth quarter of 2021 and will be based in London, coming from Willis Towers Watson, where he has been Global Head of Facultative for the last four years.
Wemyss has also been Regional CEO of Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa and CEO of Global Markets, International for Willis Towers Watson.
