Broker Guy Carpenter has announced the appointment of Al Paas as Head of European Capital & Advisory, who joins the firm with extensive experience in capital markets and mergers & acquisitions (M&A) advisory.
Commenting on Paas’ appointment, Laurent Rousseau, CEO of Guy Carpenter’s Global Capital Solutions business, said: “We are pleased to announce the appointment of Al Paas as Head of European Capital & Advisory at Guy Carpenter.
“With extensive experience in capital markets and M&A advisory, Al will lead our efforts to expand and strengthen our investment banking capabilities across Continental Europe. His leadership comes at a pivotal time as we continue to grow our practice and support our clients with tailored solutions in a rapidly evolving insurance market.”
Paas joins the firm following a ten-year tenure at Cresta Investments, where he most recently served as the organisation’s President.
Prior to that, he spent a year at QBE Insurance, serving as Global Head of Strategy, where he primarily focused on developing corporate strategies and overseeing cost-efficiency and growth initiatives.
Before he joined QBE Insurance, Paas spent over three years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he served as Managing Director and specialised in advisory, M&A, equity capital markets and debt, based in Zurich & London.
He also held a similar role prior to that at Morgan Stanley for four years, where he was based in Hong Kong and Shanghai.
As well as this, Paas also spent over three years at Zurich Insurance, where he held the role of Global Head of Strategy, M&A and Consulting.
