GC Securities, the capital markets, insurance-linked securities (ILS) focused unit of reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter, has appointed Brendan Roche as a Senior Vice President.

Roche was previously with Marsh, part of the MMC parent of Guy Carpenter, working in the brokers Captive Solutions division with a focus on ILS structures, risk transfer vehicles and collateralised reinsurance platforms.

As well as working in insurance management at Marsh, Roche also led the firm’s activities in the management of ILS and special purpose vehicles for risk securitisation, coordinating that business across the main offshore domiciles.

Roche joins GC Securities as SVP with responsibility for MMC sponsored collateralised reinsurance platforms, captives and other capital market reinsurance opportunities, the company said.

His experience in the ILS sector gained over 13 years working at Marsh will assist GC Securities in growing use of the firms broker-owned platforms for collateralised reinsurance business, private cat bonds and other ILS structures.

The brokerage already has its Cerulean Re platform for collateralised reinsurance that was launched in 2017 and previously collaborated with Tokio Solution Management on the Tokio Tensai private catastrophe bond platform.

Prior to his time in insurance management and ILS structures with Marsh, Roche gained experience in supervision and compliance with a range of financial firms based in Dublin, Ireland.
