Gallagher Re hires Lyon as Head of Capital Advisory and CEO of Gallagher Securities UK

Reinsurance broker Gallagher Re has announced the appointment of Ben Lyon as Head of Capital Advisory in London, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gallagher Securities Limited, the UK-based entity of the firm’s insurance-linked securities (ILS) and capital markets broker-dealer division.

Lyon’s appointment is subject to regulatory approval.

Lyon brings a wealth of legal and transactional experience to Gallagher Re, most recently serving as counsel at international law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Affiliates, where he advised on complex insurance and asset management-related matters.

His expertise spans public and private mergers & acquisition (M&A), reinsurance transactions, regulatory investigations, capital markets activity, and corporate governance across the UK and international markets.

In his new role, Lyon will work closely with Gallagher Re’s broader insurance-linked securities (ILS) team to enhance capital markets capabilities and support clients in accessing institutional capital for risk transfer and strategic growth.

Lyon’s appointment reflects Gallagher Re’s continued investment in its capital markets and ILS capabilities, as convergence between insurance and global investment capital deepens.

Gallagher Securities has acted on roughly $5.5 billion of catastrophe bonds that are currently outstanding, according to Artemis’ Cat Bond Bank and Broker Leaderboard.
