Gallagher Re hires Artex’s Scott Cobon as Head of Strategic Solutions, Bermuda

Global reinsurance broker Gallagher Re has announced that it has appointed Scott Cobon from Artex Risk Solutions as Head of Strategic Solutions in Bermuda, where he will work closely with Gallagher Securities, the firm’s insurance-linked securities (ILS) and capital markets broker-dealer division.

In his new role, Cobon will primarily focus on driving growth across the company, expanding Gallagher Re’s Bermuda platform, and enhancing the firm’s global offerings through capital structuring and investor engagement.

As mentioned, Cobon will work closely with Gallagher Securities’ Capital Advisory and ILS teams, while reporting to Ben Radford, Head of Bermuda.

Cobon has over 15 years of experience in the Bermuda insurance and reinsurance management industry.

Most recently, Cobon served as Managing Director, Insurance Management Services at Artex.

During his time at Artex, Cobon played a pivotal role in the growth of the organisation’s ILS management business, where he demonstrated his extensive knowledge of risk management, structuring expertise, and a broad understanding of the capital markets.

Additionally, Cobon also boasts a proven track record of client relationship management, strategic leadership, and cross-regional and divisional collaboration

Gallagher Re also explained that Cobon’s appointment is part of a wider investment towards the broker’s Bermuda platform following the recent appointments of Andrew Phelan as Chairman Global Credit, Surety (excluding US) and Political Risk, and the hiring of Rachel Barnes as a Senior Property Retro Broker.

Commenting on Cobon’s appointment, Radford said: “Scott is highly experienced and will be a real asset as we strengthen our capabilities in Bermuda. As well as facilitating interactions between Bermuda (re)insurance firms, investors, and other industry participants, Scott’s background means we will be able to foster greater collaboration with the wider Gallagher global network, including Artex.”
