Everest Re hires NewRe’s Klinger as Head of Continental Europe

Everest Re, the global insurance and reinsurance firm headquartered in Bermuda, has made a senior hire as it plans a succession within its European reinsurance leadership, hiring Artur Klinger to lead activities there.

Klinger joins Everest Re from his most recent role at Munich Re subsidiary NewRe, where he held the role of Chief Underwriting Officer.

He will join the Everest Reinsurance Division sometime in mid-to-late 2020, taking on the role of Managing Director of Continental Europe.

This is a successful example of succession planning in reinsurance, as Everest Re has found a senior and high-profile hire to succeed the outgoing Stephan Knipper, who is set to retire following 33 years in the industry.

Klinger brings Everest Re twenty years of industry experience, with a significant focus on European reinsurance underwriting and business development.

He was most recently the Chief Underwriting Officer, Property & Casualty of NewRe, a Zurich-based Munich Re subsidiary, where he spent 12 years working.

Klinger will be based in Zurich for Everest Re and will report to Andrew Carrier, Everest Re Head of European and Asia Pacific Operations in the new role. His appointment remains subject to the required regulatory approvals.
