Elementum Advisors, LLC, the insurance-linked securities (ILS) fund management and collateralised reinsurance underwriter, has announced a new strategic hire in Jeff Davis, who will join the investment manager in September from his most recent position at Aon Securities.
Jeff Davis will join Elementum Advisors in September 2020 as Senior Vice President, Investments.
He’s worked at Aon Securities, the capital markets focused unit of the reinsurance broker, for almost a decade, most recently co-leading its credit practice for insurance and reinsurance clients and advising on capital raises.
In his time with Aon, Davis has also worked on the structuring and execution of numerous catastrophe bond transactions.
“Jeff joins the firm with experience in a different part of the capital structure for reinsurers,” explained John DeCaro, Founding Partner and Senior Portfolio Manager. “His joining marks a solid step forward in our strategy to add greater depth and perspective to our investment process.”
Elementum Advisors also announced today that Partner and Portfolio Manager Paul Barker has been appointed to its Executive Committee as the fourth member.
Barker joins existing committee members, Founding Partners Tony Rettino and John DeCaro and Managing Partner Mike France.
Barker has worked at Elementum for almost a decade in Chicago and Bermuda, as a key member of the investment team.
He has been responsible for cultivating many of the firm’s counterparty relationships and leading the development of Elementum’s portfolio construction tools.
As part of the Elementum Executive Committee, Barker will be responsible for product development, R&D, talent acquisition and management, as well as other strategic activities.
Also of note, Elementum Partner Jake Weber has been put in charge of the firm’s newly formed Analytics department, responsible for evolving the Elementum view of risk through dedicated research, as well as providing peer review and support of the transactional modeling.
Catherine Malloy Cummings has also been given the position of Chief Administrative Officer, tasked with streamlining and enhancing the firm’s administrative functions. Cummings joined Elementum in 2019 as Chief Human Resources Officer.
“Alongside our goal of providing attractive returns to investors, we have always been set on building a sustainable organization that can endure and evolve with market cycles,” Tony Rettino, Founding Partner and Senior Portfolio Manager commented on the appointments. “These personnel announcements underscore our commitments to cultivating our next generation of leaders and bringing new expertise and skill-sets to the organization. We know that underpinning our successful track-record are the investments we make in our team.”
