Credit Suisse Insurance Linked Strategies Ltd., the ILS focused unit of the global asset manager, has promoted Benjamin Baltesar to the position of Head of Underwriting and Pricing.
Baltesar has worked in underwriting roles for the Credit Suisse Insurance Linked Strategies team since January 2019.
He has around twelve years of experience working in the insurance, reinsurance and ILS industry, the majority in analytical modelling or underwriting roles.
Baltesar began his career working at French insurer Axéria Prévoyance as a Portfolio Analyst, before moving on to work for reinsurer PartnerRe in life pricing, then Societe Generale where he undertook an apprenticeship focused on reinsurance.
He joined Hiscox Re in 2012 as a Junior Treaty Underwriter in Paris, then becoming a certified actuary and Underwriter, before moving to the UK for the company and becoming a Treaty Underwriter for the Hiscox Re and Insurance Linked Strategies division.
Baltesar joined Credit Suisse ILS as a Vice President and Senior Underwriter within its investment team in 2019.
Known as a property catastrophe specialist, Baltesar was promoted in August to become Head of Underwriting & Pricing for the Credit Suisse ILS unit.
