AXIS Capital has announced the hiring and appointment of a new Global Head of Ceded Reinsurance, hiring Anne Kelly from U.S. primary insurer Travelers into the role.
Kelly will take on a role that will see her responsible for leading the AXIS’ Ceded Re reinsurance buying function across all of the firms insurance product lines.
Previously at Travelers in the role of Second Vice President, Kelly managed all phases of the reinsurance placement process for the insurer’s internal customers, negotiating reinsurance contract terms and making structural decisions.
Kelly also managed reinsurer and broker relationships at Travelers, as well as being the team lead on any insurance-linked securities (ILS) transactions that the insurer entered into. She previously held underwriting roles at Shelby Insurance and Chubb.
Kelly will join the AXIS Capital Risk Funding Team as Global Head of Ceded Reinsurance from September 4th, reporting directly to Ben Rubin, the firms Global Head of Risk Funding.
“Anne is an excellent addition to our global Risk Funding team. She is a seasoned leader who brings a proven track record of managing risk strategically across an enterprise,” Rubin commented. “Anne’s strong relationships with underwriters and distribution partners make her uniquely qualified to serve as our Global Head of Ceded Re, working closely with our placement leads, Wasner Martinez and Neil Cottington, in the creation and execution of our global ceded reinsurance strategy. We look forward to the contributions that Anne will make in growing our business.”
Kelly will play an instrumental role in AXIS’ decisions relating to cessions to third-party capital and ILS funds, in the role leading ceded reinsurance.
