Ariel Re, the Bermuda headquartered global reinsurance firm, has promoted its head of platform development Tim Shreeve to the role of Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).
Shreeve joined Ariel Re in 2021 and has been involved in the firm’s expanding use of third-party capital over the years, as Ariel Re managed risk for its own balance-sheet and increasingly worked with other partner capital sources.
As Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Ariel Re, Shreeve will be tasked with identifying and advancing opportunities for growth across the business.
He will work with colleagues, brokers, clients and partners to evaluate new opportunities, assess their commercial potential, and develop new initiatives at the reinsurance company.
Shreeve, who is based in Bermuda, joined Ariel Re after having spent around a decade at specialist insurance-linked securities investment manager Nephila Capital.
At Nephila, he held the position of Reinsurance Controller for a number of years, before being promoted to Head of Platform Planning at the ILS manager.
His experience working across both owned balance-sheets and investor-backed fund structures in the reinsurance market positions him well to help Ariel Re continue to develop profitable commercial opportunities for its business.
Ariel Re has been expanding its capital partnerships business, while continuing to bring third-party capital into its business via its Lloyd’s platform and through the use of catastrophe bonds and other structures.
Ryan Mather, Ariel Re Chief Executive Officer, commented on the news, “Tim has made a significant contribution to Ariel Re’s success since joining the business. His promotion reflects his leadership, commercial insight and the value he brings to the organisation.
“We look forward to his continued impact as we pursue our strategic growth ambitions to be the Premier Manager of Reinsurance Risk.”
