Ariel Re makes key promotions in Bermuda & London, including Kerr to SVP, Capital

Global reinsurance business Ariel Re has announced a series of promotions across both its Bermuda and London offices, including Andy Kerr being promoted to Senior Vice President, Capital.

An experienced figure within the insurance-linked securities (ILS) industry, the Bermuda-based Kerr, joined Ariel Re in August 2022, previously serving as Vice President, Capital, where he has held responsibility for executing on the firm’s capital strategies as well as acting as Ariel Re’s ceded buyer.

Additionally, Kerr also works on capital partnerships with third-party investors as well at Ariel Re.

Before he joined Ariel Re, Kerr spent a few years at Nephila Climate, the weather and climate risk and reinsurance focused unit of ILS fund manager Nephila Capital. From 2018 to 2021, he served as a Fund Controller, before later being promoted to Director, Climate Finance & Operations, a role he held for just over a year.

Prior to this, he spent two years at KPMG in Bermuda, where he gained experience in financial services and reinsurance.

At the same time, Ariel Re also announced that Alan Pittendrigh has been promoted to VP, PMO and Risk.

Ariel Re’s other promotions also cover a range of different roles and departments, such as Actuarial, Analytics, Finance, Operations, Risk Technology and Underwriting.

In Actuarial, Jack Strong has been promoted to Deputy Head of Capital Modelling, while Will Ross has been named Senior Actuarial Analyst.

In Analytics and Technology, Kristy Schwaegerl has been promoted to SVP, Head of Infrastructure Services, and Simon Wray to SVP, Head of Application Services.

In addition, Neil Pohlman has been promoted to VP, Head of Portfolio Planning, Roman Sklyar to VP, Technical Lead, and Brian Darling to VP, Head of Portfolio Management.

As well as this, Valentina Putrino has also been promoted to Senior Analyst, Catastrophe Analytics, and Rahul Choudhry to Senior Software Developer.

Within Finance and Operations, Ariel Re also announced that Grace Sousa has been promoted to SVP, Head of Operations, while Neil Figureido and Tiago Ferreira have both been promoted to Reinsurance Analyst, and Rhys Callely to Senior Syndicate Accountant.

Lastly, in Underwriting, Giovanni Maccioni has been promoted to SVP, Underwriter, Carolina Medeiros to Underwriter, and Louise Andrews and Megan Zimmerer to Assistant Underwriter.

As previously announced, Sarah Morgan has also been promoted from SVP, Property Underwriting, to Head of Property.
