This report reviews the catastrophe bond and insurance-linked securities (ILS) market at the end of the third-quarter of 2021, looking at new risk capital issued and the composition of transactions completed during the quarter.
The record pace of issuance in 2021 continued during the third-quarter, as 25 tranches of notes combined brought more than $2.7 billion of new risk capital to market, beating the prior year period by over $1 billion. 2021 is the first time ever that Q3 issuance has exceeded $2.5 billion.
