Another new Japanese denominated private catastrophe bond arrangement has been issued by Artex Axcell Re, the Bermuda based Artex Risk Solutions operated transformer entity, with the roughly US $3.8 million Artex Axcell Re (Series FE0005) transaction potentially another renewal of a recently matured private cat bond deal.

Two new private catastrophe bond arrangements have been issued by Artex Axcell Re, the Bermuda based Artex Risk Solutions operated transformer entity, with almost $48.26 million of notes sold to investors across the two series, Artemis has learned.

Hannover Re has facilitated another private catastrophe bond arrangement, as its Bermuda-domiciled transformer vehicle Kaith Re Ltd. has issued a $20 million Seaside Re (Series 2026-71) transaction that is exposed to US property catastrophe risks and will provide reinsurance or retrocession for an unknown sponsor.

Catastrophe bond market issuance activity continues apace in 2026 and now two months of the first-quarter may see new records set for the amount of limit that comes to market, while Q1 issuance overall is destined to be the second highest ever, according to Artemis’ Deal Directory data.

Hannover Re has sponsored a second successful renewal of its landmark parametric cloud outage catastrophe bond, this time securing $35 million in retrocessional cyber reinsurance protection covering cloud outage events with a Cumulus Re (Series 2026-1) issuance, Artemis can report.

The Eclipse Re Ltd. transformer vehicle has issued its first listed private catastrophe bond notes of the year, with a $100 million Eclipse Re Ltd. (Series 2026-1A) becoming the largest cat bond lite of 2026 so far, Artemis has learned.

Catastrophe bond issuance is on track to make this first-quarter at least the second busiest start to any year on record, with Artemis’ Deal Directory data already projecting close to $5.86 billion of cat bond issuance for Q1 2026, only falling behind the total from last year at this stage.
