TigerRisk hires O’Neill from GC for Florida & coastal property cat broking

TigerRisk Partners LLC, the global risk, capital and reinsurance brokerage and advisory, has announced the hiring of former Guy Carpenter broker Brian O’Neill who will join the firm with a Florida and coastal property catastrophe risk broking focus.

O’Neill joins TigerRisk Partners as Partner and Client Executive, Florida Business, and his hiring is targeted on expanding the broker development of property catastrophe solutions in the key Florida reinsurance market and other coastal states.

Wade Gulbransen, Head of North American Operations at TigerRisk, announced O’Neill’s hire, saying, “Brian is one of the industry’s foremost experts on property-casualty reinsurance in Florida. His highly specialized knowledge and years of experience will be a tremendous asset to TigerRisk and our clients.”

O’Neill will be based in Tampa, Florida for TigerRisk.

O’Neill was most recently Managing Director and Head of reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter’s office in Tampa, Florida.

His career began at Guy Carpenter in reinsurance claims and transitioned to P&C broking, spending 17 years at the firm.

O’Neill then moved to work at brokerage JLT Re, where he was the Head of the Natural Catastrophe Practice and then came back to Guy Carpenter through the MMC acquisition of JLT.

Commenting on his focus for the new role at TigerRisk, O’Neill said, “Helping clients build and retain profitable books of business is particularly difficult given the legal environment, fraud issues, reinsurance costs, competition, etc.
