QBE Re, the global reinsurance underwriting division of Australian insurer QBE, has hired former Aspen insurance and previously Aspen Re CEO Stephen Postlewhite to become the firms new Deputy Global Chief Underwriting Officer.
QBE Re is looking to build on its reinsurance operations, expanding its team with this new senior hire of a well-regarded industry professional with abundant experience.
Jonathan Parry, Chief Underwriting Officer for Reinsurance, commented on the appointment, “I am delighted that Stephen is joining QBE Re. He brings considerable experience to this key role and will be an important addition to our business.”
Postlewhite, in his time as CEO of Aspen Re, was also involved in the development of the firms capital markets activities, including its quota shares with ILS investors, its Silverton Re collateralized reinsurance sidecars and other alternative capital activities.
He will join QBE Re on 1st November and will report to Jonathan Parry, Chief Underwriting Officer for Reinsurance.
Postlewhite had been CEO of Aspen Insurance since 2016, prior to which he was CEO of Aspen Re, having moved into the role in 2014. He has more than 20 years of experience in the re/insurance industry and also held the roles of Chief Actuary and Chief Risk Officer at Aspen Insurance.
