Michael Popkin new co-head of ILS for Towers Watson Capital Markets

Towers Watson Capital Markets (TWCM) have named Michael Popkin as their new co-head of insurance-linked securities. In the role Popkin will assist TWCM clients in their strategic risk management needs with insurance-linked securities and industry loss warranties. He will also help in the development and implementation of instruments such as sidecars, catastrophe bonds and life insurance securitizations.

Reporting directly to head of TWCM Ed Hochberg, and working alongside Rick Miller based in New York, Popkin comes from a dual role as head of financial institution origination and head of structured credit solutions at RWE Supply & Trading.

“We are pleased to have a market leader with such an outstanding track record as Michael joining us, and we look forward to his role in helping clients address their critical risk and capital management needs,” said Hochberg. “He brings vast experience, knowledge and thought leadership to our valued insurance industry clients, and we look forward to Michael and the entire TWCM team continuing to work closely with our full-service reinsurance brokerage business in North America, Bermuda and London.”
