Lockton, the independent insurance and reinsurance broking group, has hired former Descartes Underwriting business development specialist Owen Meaney as its new U.S. Parametric Leader.
Lockton has been investing in a continued build-out of its parametric insurance and risk transfer specialism in recent years, having established a Global Parametric Insurance Practice back in late 2024.
The broker has strengthened its teams in this area to provide customised parametric insurance and reinsurance solutions so clients can protect themselves against exposures that often cannot be served by traditional coverage.
In a LinkedIn update, Owen Meaney explained that he has started this month as an Assistant Vice President at Lockton and its new U.S. Parametric Leader.
Meaney most recently worked at parametric specialist Descartes Underwriting for more than three years.
At Descartes, Meaney joined the company as a Business Development Analyst in 2023, before becoming AVP of Business Development in July 2025.
Prior to his time working for that parametric specialist, Meaney had worked at USI Insurance Services as a Commercial Lines Account Representative for one year and at Marsh as an operations intern.
Parametric solutions are seen as an ongoing growth opportunity across insurance and reinsurance markets, with brokerages expanding their parametric risk transfer and insurance expertise through dedicated business units.
