Arch appoints Louis Tucker to lead its Lloyd’s managing agency

Arch Insurance International, part of the global insurance and reinsurance underwriting Arch Capital Group, has named Louis Tucker as the new head of its Lloyd’s managing agency operations, Arch Managing Agency Limited.

Tucker was most recently the Head of Third-Party Capital at Arch Insurance International.

He joined Arch when the firm acquired Barbican Insurance Group in 2019, where he held the role of Group Director.

In the new role, Tucker will oversee the activities of syndicates at Lloyd’s under the Arch Managing Agency banner.

These include, Syndicate 2012, Syndicate 1955, Arcus Syndicate 1856 and Toa Re Special Purpose Arrangement 6132, which the company all manages.

Of course, the Arcus Syndicate 1856 was third-party capital backed by insurance-linked securities (ILS) funds under the management of Credit Suisse, but has since been taken over by ERS.

With ERS having launched its own insurance-linked securities (ILS) investment management division just recently, there’s every chance some of the third-party capital backing the Arcus syndicate remains sourced from ILS-style investors.

Tucker has over 20 years of insurance and reinsurance market experience.

Prior to joining Barbican, he worked at PwC, reinsurance firm GenRe and also at Wellington Underwriting plc.
