Argo Group hires Mark Gibson, ex BNP Paribas, as Director of Alternative Risk Capital

Argo Group, an international underwriter of specialty insurance and reinsurance products in the property and casualty market, has announced the appointment of Mark Gibson to a newly created role of Director of Alternative Risk Capital. Gibson is a well known name in the reinsurance and capital markets convergence space having held positions as MD of GC Securities and most recently with BNP Paribas where he was responsible for their growing presence in the insurance-linked securities and catastrophe bond space.

Mark Gibson will join Argo in July and in his new role as Director of Alternative Risk Capital will be overseeing their work on alternative risk structures and techniques, including securitised products, working on ways to further optimise their offering. He will work closely with reinsurance, catastrophe modeling, risk analysis and underwriting teams within the Argo Group. Gibson will report to Argo Group chief underwriting officer Andrew Carrier and will be based in Argo International’s London office.
