In May 2012 TransRe, the reinsurer arm of Alleghany Corporation owned insurance and reinsurance group Transatlantic Holdings, launched its fully-collateralized reinsurance sidecar, Pangaea Reinsurance IV Ltd., again choosing not to disclose the vehicles size or owner.
The Pangaea Reinsurance IV Ltd. sidecar vehicle was TransRe’s fourth Pangaea sidecar issuance, after Pangaea Reinsurance I Ltd. in 2010, and Pangaea Reinsurance II and III in 2011.
Roughly two years after this issuance, TransRe launched Pangaea Reinsurance IX Ltd.
