Weather risk management has been in the press in the last couple of days thanks to two high profile articles on Weatherbill. Weatherbill has been credited with bringing weather risk management and weather derivatives based products to the masses mainly through the clever use of technology and the internet. This isn’t surprising when you realise that the man behind Weatherbill is an ex Google executive and seems to be applying the same innovative approach to the weather risk management marketplace.
The first article is in Condé Nast Portfolio, the second in Newsweek.
Getting into high-profile publications such as these is not only good for Weatherbill but also very good for the market as it helps to raise the profile of the wide range of techniques and products that can be used to hedge your weather risks.
