Vicky Carter to chair Guy Carpenter Global Capital Solutions, International

Guy Carpenter has appointed Vicky Carter to the role of Chairman, Global Capital Solutions, International, the unit that contains the capital solutions and insurance-linked securities operations of the reinsurance broker.

Carter was previously the Chairman of Global Strategic Advisory at Guy Carpenter and has worked in the reinsurance industry for 38 years.

Carter became the first female founder of a Lloyd’s intermediary and has held numerous senior executive positions within the broking world. She’s also a member of the Council of Lloyd’s and a Member of the Lloyd’s Nominations and Governance Committee.

Carter will continue reporting to Peter Hearn, President & CEO of Guy Carpenter.

The role will see her working closely with David Priebe, Vice Chairman of Guy Carpenter and Head of the Global Capital Solutions Group, tasked with bringing the offerings of the unit within the reinsurance broker to global clients.

The Global Capital Solutions Group is made up of the insurance-linked securities (ILS), capital markets and investment banking specialists at GC Securities, which is led by Shiv Kumar, and the Global Risk Solutions (formerly known as Global Capital Solutions) unit, led by Ed Hochberg (formerly of JLT Re).

The move comes as Guy Carpenter announced numerous senior executive roles due to the ongoing integration of JLT Re, following the Marsh & McLennan Companies (MMC) acquisition of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group plc (JLT).

Notable among them, Kevin Fisher takes on the role of Chairman of London North America, on top of the previously announced role as Chairman of UK and Global Specialties. He will continue reporting to CEO of Guy Carpenter Hearn.

James Boyce will continue as CEO of Global Specialties, reporting to Hearn, while Bradley Maltese has now taken up his recently appointed role as Vice Chairman of Global Specialties, reporting to Boyce.

In addition, James Nash will continue in his role as CEO of International, also reporting to Hearn.

The changes and appointments are all effective immediately, and the company said it reflects Guy Carpenter’s “ongoing strategic efforts to align the firm’s structure, to integrate the capabilities of JLT Re and to create a leadership team that enhances the company’s ability to deliver strategic services, solutions and value to clients.”

In addition, the retirement of Ross Howard, Vice Chairman of Guy Carpenter and formerly the Chairman of JLT Re, has been announced. He will continue to support integration efforts at Guy Carpenter to help ensure the work delivers maximum value to the broker and its clients.
