Tropical Storm Dolly forms over western Caribbean

Share

Another tropical storm has formed today, this time over the western Caribbean sea. Dolly, the fourth named storm of the Atlantic tropical storm season, formed out of an area of thunderstorms and low pressure which had been crossing the Caribbean. Currently packing 45mph winds, Dolly is headed straight for the Yucatan peninsula and is expected to strengthen a little before dumping 4 to 6 inches of rain on the area.

What happens next is where Dolly could get interesting. She has the potential to cross the Yucatan and then regain strength over the Gulf of Mexico where she could even get up to hurricane strength before making landfall again in northern Mexico or Texas. Definitely one to keep an eye on, follow Dolly’s progress on the Artemis tropical storm season page.
