Sompo International, the Bermuda-headquartered specialty P&C insurance and reinsurance group, has announced the hire of former Aon and Aeolus Capital Management senior executive Neville Weston, who will join the firms reinsurance business.
Weston will take on the role of Head of Global Distribution and Product Development for Sompo International’s Reinsurance platform.
He will be based in Bermuda and report to Christopher Donelan, CEO of Global Reinsurance.
Weston will be tasked with assessing, devising and implementing key client and broker distribution growth initiatives, focusing on building out the reinsurance business’ underwriting deal flow and trading capabilities across all reinsurance product lines and geographies. He will also become a member of the Global Reinsurance Leadership Team.
Donelan commented on the hire, “With the addition of Neville to our team, we look forward to broadening our distribution network, developing new strategic initiatives and strengthening existing partnerships. I’ve known Neville for many years, and I am very confident in his capabilities and extremely happy that he has joined us. Weston has over 25 years of reinsurance business experience, much of it in the Bermuda market and with a significant focus on both traditional and capital markets forms of capital.
Most recently Weston worked at Aon’s Reinsurance Solutions unit in Bermuda, where he served as Vice Chairman since October of 2019.
Prior top that, Weston was a Partner at Aeolus Capital Management Ltd., the Bermuda based reinsurance and insurance-linked securities (ILS) focused investment fund manager and had been with Aeolus since 2009.
He had also worked in reinsurance broking for Guy Carpenter and had co-founded Helix Underwriting Partners, a Bermuda licensed multi-line MGA.
