Pillar Capital, a Bermuda based specialist collateralized reinsurance and insurance-linked securities (ILS) investment manager, has promoted Jeff Franklin, who has been with the firm since 2013 and was previously CUO to Flagstone Re, to the role of Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO).
Jeff Franklin first joined Pillar Capital back in 2013, taking on the role of SVP & Portfolio Manager.
With an extensive career of experience in global property underwriting, including as the Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) of Flagstone Re immediately prior to joining Pillar, Franklin helped to develop international books of reinsurance underwriting business and international property catastrophe portfolios of risk.
Franklin began his insurance and reinsurance industry career at Ace Tempest Re in 2001, where he began in the firms analytics department, before moving into the International underwriting department becoming the Vice President responsible for property treaty underwriting, marketing, and portfolio optimization
The Pillar Board of Directors commented on the appointment, “Jeff has played an integral leadership role in expanding Pillar’s market presence and leading the development of our portfolio strategy over the last five years. His appointment as Chief Underwriting Officer is a natural progression that enables the Company to benefit from his proven underwriting expertise in the Bermuda reinsurance market and his extensive market contacts.”
“I am thrilled to assume the CUO position at Pillar,” added Franklin. “It has been an honor to contribute to Pillar’s success in the reinsurance market and I’m looking forward to continuing to expand our share of the ILS collateralized reinsurance market.”
Pillar Capital recently announced another hire, in adding Senior Analyst Jeffrey T. Daddario to the firm.
