OneGlobal opens Bermuda re/insurance broking office

Oneglobal Broking, the commercial insurance and reinsurance brokerage owned by investor JC Flowers, has opened its first Bermuda broking office and announced two key hires.

Having now received regulatory approval for the opening of its Bermuda office, OneGlobal has announced the hiring of Craig Douglas (most recently at RFIB), named Executive Director, Oneglobal Bermuda, who will report to Mike Reynolds, Group CEO.

Kilian Whelan, most recently at JLT, is also joining the OneGlobal Bermuda business as COO, with additional team announcements also expected to be made shortly.

Mike Reynolds, Group CEO, Oneglobal, said, “Opening our Bermuda office is a statement of our intent to continue the expansion of Oneglobal’s international presence and to continue the growth of our business. Bermuda is a key insurance market for us and we are pleased to be launching here and adding Craig and Kilian to the Oneglobal team.”

Douglas is a broker with an established presence across Bermuda and London markets and extensive, reinsurance, casualty and life science experience gained across a 20 year insurance and reinsurance industry career.

He was most recently at RFIB Bermuda as Executive Vice President, prior to which he held senior roles at JLT Specialty in Bermuda and London and at Miller and Willis.

Whelan has more than 25 years’ experience in Bermuda and the industry, most recently having led the JLT Insurance Management Group operations.

Bermuda remains a key insurance and reinsurance marketplace, so it is no surprise to see an expansive broker looking to establish itself on the island, providing more choice to ceding companies, as well as to reinsurance and ILS markets operating there.
