Nephila Climate, the weather, climate, environmental, social & governance risks focused unit of Nephila Capital, the largest insurance and reinsurance-linked fund manager, has hired Ariane West as a Director of Structured Finance.
Nephila Climate (NCx) is dedicated to originating and structuring transactions, as well as securing investments for the Nephila funds in weather risk transfer, renewable energy linked hedging and other climate resilience products.
West, who joined Nephila Climate in October, will have a focus on business development, origination of new weather and climate risk finance and investment opportunities, and structuring of transactions for Nephila Climate.
In the role, West will support Nephila in developing new renewable energy focused hedging products and other credit-linked weather transactions.
West, who is located in Bermuda, had most recently worked as a Partner the corporate and finance practice at law firm Walkers Bermuda.
In that role West advised international and Bermuda located clients on a range of corporate and transactional matters, with a particular focus on structured risk products, including insurance linked securities (ILS), other reinsurance capital markets transactions and catastrophe bonds, as well as private equity and the establishment of investment funds.
Prior to her time at Walkers, West had worked for a range of international law firms, as well as spending almost three years at Goldman Sachs working in structured products, fixed income and securities.
