Nephila Capital, one of the best known and most established asset managers in the ILS and reinsurance linked investment space, has announced that they are promoting a new partner to their senior management team to support their ongoing growth. The employee being promoted is David Oliveira, who has been with Nephila Capital since 2006, working on areas including deal origination, portfolio management, hedging implementation and overall market strategy.
Nephila are the largest asset manager in the insurance-linked security and reinsurance-linked investment space, managing a number of vehicles dedicated to investments in both catastrophe and weather risk linked securities. They currently have approximately $7 billion of insurance and reinsurance linked assets under management.
David Oliveira joins the existing eight partners in the Nephila Capital business, part of a team of over forth-five in the company. The announcement said that Oliveira was being made partner “recognition of his outstanding contributions to the firm since 2006”.
Oliveira is well-known in the space, having worked at XL Capital’s Weather & Energy division trading weather derivatives and at HSBC Bermuda where he worked on captive and reinsurance asset management solutions. His background also includes banking and hedge fund activities.
