McGill & Partners hires Nicky Payne for ILS broking push

McGill & Partners, the boutique risk solutions firm launched by former Aon President Steve McGill, has hired Nicky Payne, previously active underwriter of the Credit Suisse Insurance Linked Strategies owned Lloyd’s syndicate Arcus 1856.

Having worked in senior insurance and reinsurance broking roles in London for Howden and Aon before, Payne transitioned to the insurance-linked securities (ILS) sector in 2013.

She became Head of Origination in London for Credit Suisse’s ILS operations, before then taking a leading role in the setting up and underwriting operations of a fully ILS fund backed Lloyd’s of London syndicate.

Payne departed from Arcus 1856 after almost four years in 2019 to pursue other opportunities and has now re-emerged with a role at McGill & Partners.

McGill & Partners has been expanding its Reinsurance broking division over the last year, adding a number of hires with expertise in broking to collateralised markets.

Adding Payne brings additional expertise in insurance-linked securities (ILS) and accessing the full-range of alternative reinsurance capital opportunities for McGill clients.

McGill is targeting reinsurance and retrocession broking growth, meaning expertise on the full-range of capital solutions and structures, including ILS options, will be increasingly important for the company.

Payne joined the company as a Partner on October 1st.

With over 30 years reinsurance experience, as both a broker and underwriter, she has been appointed to join McGill & Partners growing Treaty Reinsurance team to assist in the development of ILS and capital markets capabilities, while also supporting the growing retro and reinsurance teams, the company explained.
