Ipac Asset Management, an Australian investment management firm, has diversified its investment portfolio through a $50m stake in the new Palmetto Australian Unit Trust fund managed by Nephila Capital.
This is the first investment in this new Australian onshore unit trust set up by Nephila Capital which invests in catastrophe linked insurance and securities.
Ipac said the investment offered it a chance to continue their strategy of seeking good diversification opportunities for its clients citing benefits in the uncorrelated nature of the investment strategy and a smoother return journey for investors.
This news demonstrates the continuing trend for investment managers to look favourably on the catastrophe insurance-linked securities markets as attractive investment diversification opportunities, a trend we see continuing.
