ILS investments specialist Twelve Capital hires risk management professional

Twelve Capital, the Zurich, Switzerland based independent investment manager which specialises in managing portfolios of insurance-linked securities (ILS) and subordinated insurance company bonds, has announced the addition of a new Partner responsible for risk management at the firm.

Twelve Capital has hired Dr. Markus Stricker, a well-respected, both in industry and academic circles, insurance and risk management expert, to be a Partner at the firm with responsibility for risk management. Stricker comes from the Georgia State University in Atlanta.

Dr. Stricker has recently taken over responsibility for risk management at the investment manager and has been tasked with driving forward the development of Twelve Capital’s proprietary analytical and portfolio management tools.

Stricker brings experience to Twelve Capital from previous roles with insurance sector firms such as Swiss Re, Aon ReSolution, as well as consulting experience from companies such as Towers Perrin Tillinghast in Zurich.

Dr. Stricker obtained his PhD at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) where he studied mathematics. He also attended courses in Risk and Credit Management in the Executive MBA Programme at Stanford Business School, as well as other numerous courses in Risk Management and Finance. He has taught at the ETH in Zurich as well as at the University of Chicago. Stricker has also been a director of the Willis Economic Capital Forum, which saw him build an applied research centre, during his time teaching at the Georgia State University, which houses the world’s largest Risk Management and Insurance Department.
