AXIS Re, the global reinsurance business unit of AXIS Capital Holdings, has announced the promotion and appointment of Andy Hottinger to the role of President of its EMEA LatAm division.
In this new role, Hottinger will report directly to AXIS Re CEO Steve Arora and will become part of the AXIS Reinsurance Leadership Team.
“Andy has a deep understanding of our company’s strategy and values, as well as opportunities for future growth. He is a respected leader who has continually delivered high-quality results. His mix of technical expertise and people leadership skills will serve AXIS Re well as he assumes leadership of our important EMEA and LatAm reinsurance business. I look forward to working more closely with Andy as he joins the Reinsurance Leadership Team to help advance our ambition of achieving a leadership position in the global reinsurance market,” explained Arora.
Hottinger steps into the shoes of longtime AXIS Re colleague and EMEA LatAm President Jan Ekberg, who is set to retire in July after a 45-year career in re/insurance, 15 years of which were at AXIS.

Hottinger has worked at AXIS for over a decade, including a number of underwriting management roles within AXIS Re.
Most recently he served as Head of Property EMEA, before which he was Head of Engineering and Property Risk.
Before joining AXIS, Hottinger worked at French reinsurance firm SCOR and Swiss reinsurance company Converium.
Hottinger will take on his new role on July 1st 2019, following Ekberg’s retirement.
