Horseshoe, the Bermuda-headquartered insurance or reinsurance management, fund administration, insurance-linked securities (ILS) specialist, has announced a new hire, appointing Jasmine DeSilva as Senior Vice President, ILS Strategic Initiatives & Business Development.
DeSilva was most recently an employee of the Bermuda Business Development Agency (BDA) where she worked as its Business Development Manager for Risk and Insurance Solutions.
Previously, DeSilva had worked at Bermuda based insurance and reinsurance company Sompo International, having joined when it was still Endurance.
In these roles, DeSilva had a focus on excess casualty underwriting and spent over a decade working with large Fortune 500 type accounts.
Horseshoe is a market leading ILS service provider, with an offering across a range of activities specific to the ILS market and those writing collateralized reinsurance.
This includes having one of the most prolific risk transformation reinsurance vehicles in Horseshoe Re, as well as broader ILS and reinsurance specific fund administration and servicing.
The company was acquired in late 2019, after entering into a strategic acquisition by AJG’s Artex Risk Solutions.
DeSilva joins at a time when Horseshoe has been expanding its reach globally as well, with insurance-linked securities and catastrophe bond domiciles now appearing across the globe and the company keen to provide services in any relevant jurisdiction.
The company also recently announced a new CEO in well-known industry executive Kathleen Faries, as its founder Andre Perez took on the new role of Executive Chairman remaining involved in the business as a key strategic advisor.
