Hiscox Re & ILS, the reinsurance and insurance-linked securities (ILS) division of global re/insurer Hiscox, has promoted Andrew Dolphin to the role of Chief Operating Officer, having previously worked in reinsurance buying and led the international business as Chair.

Dolphin takes on the new role immediately and will join the Hiscox Re & ILS Executive team. He will continue to be based out of London and will report directly to Mike Krefta, the CEO of Hiscox Re & ILS.

Mike Krefta commented on the appointment, “Andrew’s proven track record of success and strong reputation made him a stand out candidate for this position. We are delighted he is now part of the Hiscox RE & ILS Executive team.”

Dolphin has worked at Hiscox since the year 2000 and his analytical and commercial expertise helped him to make the transition from a technical role in the Group reinsurance purchasing team up to leading the entire International team of Hiscox Re & ILS across London, Paris and Bermuda bases.

Hiscox said that Dolphin has helped to grow the reinsurance business capability on a number of fronts, from analytics and underwriting to the development of the multi-pronged underwriting platform that includes the insurance-linked strategies unit, as well as helping to ensure pricing discipline across multiple lines of business.

Third-party and alternative capital activities at Hiscox are embedded within the Hiscox Re & ILS division and the Hiscox Re Insurance Linked Strategies Ltd. (Hiscox Re ILS) team plays a key role in underwriting business alongside the unit.
