Greg Habay to join AQR Capital Management from JLT Re

Share

Greg Habay, a Senior Vice President and senior broker at reinsurance brokerage JLT Re, is moving to a dedicated insurance-linked securities (ILS) player to become Vice President of Business Development for AQR Capital Management.

In his time with JLT Re, Habay has had a particular focus on much of the brokers North American reinsurance and retrocession work, where capital markets solutions and ILS have been involved. His broking experience crosses reinsurance, retro and instruments such as industry loss warranties (ILW’s) and other ILS or collateralized reinsurance solutions.

According to industry sources, Habay will join capital markets focused reinsurance and ILS asset manager AQR Capital Management on the 8th December and will be based at the AQR global headquarters in Greenwich, Connecticut.

Habay’s role at AQR is a slight departure from his broking background and will see him concentrate on raising new capital for both existing and future reinsurance or ILS funds that AQR manages.

His deep experience in reinsurance and retrocession broking, working with both traditional reinsurance as well as capital markets or ILS capacity, will be invaluable to AQR as it continues to expand its reinsurance and ILS practice.
