Ed hires Carrie Kelley to lead property insurance in Bermuda

Reinsurance, specialty and wholesale broking group Ed has added a new senior hire to its recently launched Bermuda broking platform, naming Carrie Kelley, previously of Barbican, as its new Head of Property Insurance, Bermuda.

Ed received approval to begin operations in Bermuda in late June, where it will provide a full range of multi-line broking services.

Now the broker is building out its team and the first hire is one focused on placing large property risks.

Carrie Kelley has joined Ed as Executive Vice President, Head of Property Insurance, Bermuda and will report to Chris Bonard, CEO of Ed Broking’s new Bermuda platform.

Kelley has more than 16 years of insurance and reinsurance sector experience.

Most recently she worked at Barbican Underwriting Bermuda, underwriting the firms Property D&F portfolio. Before her time at Barbican, Kelley held roles as Senior Vice President, Property Broker, at Bowring Marsh Bermuda, Property Facultative Broker at reinsurance focused Guy Carpenter Bermuda, and as Vice President & Property Broker at Marsh USA in Chicago.

She has an excellent track record working with complex multi-national accounts from the North American Fortune 1000 and was instrumental in the development of a Middle Market book of business new to the island. She has solid relationships both with clients and the local underwriting community, which will be invaluable as we build out Ed’s independent wholesale broking platform in Bermuda to give our clients access to a marketplace they had not been fully utilizing.”
