Ed hires another Bermuda broking veteran in Mark Simons

Reinsurance, specialty and wholesale broking group Ed continues to build its Bermuda market platform, adding another experienced hire in Mark Simons, who joins the firm to lead business development and production on the island.

Mark Simons joins Ed’s Bermuda broking operation from his most recent role with Marsh, where he specialised in financial lines.

Simons joins Ed as Head of Business Development and Production, Bermuda, next month.

His career of 20 years in insurance and reinsurance broking in Bermuda saw him holding a range of senior roles with firms including HSBC, JLT Park, AIG and Aon in Bermuda, with a particular focus on professional and casualty lines.

The new role sees him focusing on client relationships and development, and his contacts on the island could help Ed open doors with new potential ceding clients.

Ed recently appointed John Turner (previously of Aon) as its new Chairman of Ed Bermuda, and hired Carrie Kelley, previously of Barbican, as its new Head of Property Insurance, Bermuda.
