Investment banking and asset management giant Credit Suisse has hired Jason Bolding, formerly of broker Aon’s capital markets and insurance-linked securities (ILS) team, to fill a newly created role of Head of ILS, United States.
We can report that Bolding’s new role sits within the investment bank’s ILS team, located in the Credit Suisse Asset Management division.
This is where the existing Credit Suisse Insurance-Linked Strategies Ltd. team sits within the global organisation, led by an ILS investment team that has been investing under the Credit Suisse brand since 2003 and longer in their previous roles.
Bolding, based in Chicago, had worked for insurance and reinsurance broker Aon for almost 15 years in its reinsurance capital markets division, Aon Securities.
Bolding was a Managing Director within the Aon Securities team, with a focus on the distribution side of insurance-linked securities (ILS) and catastrophe bonds, involving sales, primary distribution and syndication of ILS and other capital market backed reinsurance deals.
This work frequently involved running the book for cat bond issues, as well as for other syndicated and collateralised reinsurance structures, including sidecar vehicles, with Bolding leading much of this sales and distribution activity for most of Aon Securities issuance into the ILS market.
Given how active broking giant Aon is in ILS, cat bonds and collateralised reinsurance syndication, Bolding is a very well known figure in the market with deep relationships on both the issuing and investing sides of ILS.
Bolding has been hired by Credit Suisse into the role of Head of ILS, US, joining the Credit Suisse Asset Management ILS team and remaining based in the United States.
Specific details of the role responsibilities have not been made available, but it is assumed that Bolding will be tasked with driving forwards ILS investment activities in the U.S., given his level of experience, seniority and market relationships.
We can confirm that Bolding will report to Niklaus Hilti, Credit Suisse Insurance Linked Strategies Ltd. CEO and CIO.
