CoreLogic, the property risk modelling, data and analytics company, has hired experienced insurance-linked securities (ILS) and reinsurance executive Pierre Wiart in Australia, to become its regional Head of Consulting and Risk Management.
Wiart has most recently been consulting on insurance-linked securities with an Australian investment client, prior to which he worked at catastrophe risk modeller RMS helping to expand the role of ILS and structured risk transfer among Australian and New Zealand insurance and reinsurance clients.
He began his career also at RMS, working in catastrophe risk modeling in 2000.
Wiart later went on to work in a variety of insurance and reinsurance roles at underwriting groups, brokers and specifically in ILS.
He held roles at Aon, White Mountains Re in Bermuda, SCOR where he managed risk modelling for the Atropos ILS fund, QIC as an ILS investment consultant and also Australian insurer IAG’s reinsurance division.
At CoreLogic, Wiart will bring his consultative approach to risk and data analytics to the group as it looks to expand further in the region.
In addition, CoreLogic is increasingly focused on bringing its property data, on value, construction attributes and risk, to corporations to help them evaluate their exposure to climate change, an area that is certain to be a focus in Australia after the costly catastrophes, storms and wildfires of recent years.
Wiart’s understanding of both traditional and alternative risk transfer and reinsurance capital sources will help CoreLogic as it looks to increase its footprint in Australia.
