Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) President and CEO Greg Wojciechowski, a key figure in the insurance-linked securities (ILS) market given the BSX’s dominant role as a host to catastrophe bond and other insurance-linked security (ILS) listings, has been re-elected to the Board of the World Federation of Exchanges.
Wojciechowski, has led the BSX through the explosion of growth in the insurance-liked securities (ILS) market of the last almost two decades, during which time the Exchange has become the leading place for cat bond and other ILS instrument listings, will now serve a second term on the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) Board representing the Americas region.
At the 59th General Assembly of the WFE held in Singapore this week, four Directors were elected to its Board.
One of the four, Wojciechowski will now serve another three year term on the WFE Board, which works to reinforce the importance of regulated exchanges and clearing houses in delivering on financial market integrity.
Wojciechowski commented on the news, “Bermuda’s contribution was solidly recognized by the WFE global membership in their support of the re-election of the BSX to the Board for a second term. The recognition of the BSX and, by extension, Bermuda and its commercial and regulatory infrastructure substantiates our ability to punch above our weight and the importance of our contributions to the global dialogue on issues that impact and confront our various industry segments.”
Wojciechowski’s work at the BSX has helped to position the 48-year-old Exchange in a central role in the development of Bermuda’s domestic capital market. This has helped to attract global capital to the island and its markets, particularly of note in the insurance-linked securities and cat bond space.
More recently, Wojciechowski has been driving forwards the BSX in attracting global capital to the Exchange and launched initiatives focusing on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors in investments and capital markets, something which the insurance-linked securities (ILS) market exhibits in abundance.
Wojciechowski added, “Our re-election to the WFE Board is thanks to what has been very much a BSX team effort and the level of experience and commitment to the platform that we have established and continue to grow for the benefit and development of Bermuda’s domestic capital market.”
