Aspen Re, the reinsurance division of Bermuda headquartered specialty re/insurer Aspen Insurance Holdings Limited, has appointed former Tokio Millennium Re employee Meredith Head to lead its property catastrophe business in North America.
Meredith Head joins Aspen Re as its new Head of North American Property Catastrophe, a role that will see her reporting into Christian Dunleavy, the recently appointed Chief Underwriting Officer of Aspen Re and Chief Executive Officer of Aspen Bermuda Limited.
She’s expected to take up the position in September of this year and will be based in Bermuda.
Given how closely the reinsurance team at Aspen works with its insurance-linked securities (ILS) division under Aspen Capital Markets, Head is bound to be interfacing closely with the team responsible for making collateralized reinsurance cession decisions at Aspen.
Head will work alongside Aspen Re’s Head of International Catastrophe business Andrew Mellor. The position will see here leading the reinsurer’s property catastrophe treaty reinsurance strategy and Bermuda property treaty underwriting operation.
Her most recent role at Bermuda reinsurer Tokio Millennium Re was as Senior Vice President, Property Catastrophe Underwriting.
Before she joined Tokio Millennium Re in 2008, Head spent 11 years as Vice President and Deputy Manager, Property Catastrophe Underwriting, at Partner Re.
