Ariel Re, the international reinsurance company that was taken private in a transaction last year, has hired Tim Shreeve from insurance-linked securities (ILS) specialist Nephila Capital in Bermuda.
Shreeve had worked at Nephila Capital for roughly a decade, having joined the ILS fund management company in 2011.
He had held the position of Reinsurance Controller at Nephila in Bermuda for a number of years, before being promoted to Head of Platform Planning.
Shreeve’s departure from Nephila had been known a few months ago, but now his destination is known as well, and he will joing the expansive private equity backed reinsurance specialist Ariel Re.
The company transacts a wide range of of reinsurance business out of its Bermuda, London, and Hong Kong officers, while also writing its business principally through Syndicate 1910 at Lloyd’s.
Shreeve has joined Ariel Re as Head of Platform Planning, a role his experience gained at Nephila will provide value to.
Shreeve also has tax, valuation and compliance related operations expertise, plus experience working with Lloyd’s syndicates and underwriting entities.
Ariel Re leverages third-party reinsurance capital to support its underwriting, so Shreeve’s decade of ILS market experience will also prove useful.
